How many napkins will I get?
One cloth napkin a month. Simple as that. Stay as long as you’d like.
What kind of fabric are cloth napkins made from?
It varies. That’s kind of the point. I’m working with what already exists, often fabric without labels, without origin stories, but full of life.
How do I care for cloth napkins?
However, you want. I wash mine in cold water, hang them to dry outside, and iron them when I’m feeling ambitious. At some point, it will stain. That’s part of the deal. When it does, you can patch it, embroider over it, demote it to rag status, or lovingly let it go. No wrong answers here.
Isn’t using cloth napkins a lot of work? Don’t they stain?
It’s only work if you decide it is. Use it. Wash it. Keep living your life. If it stains, you adapt. We’re not chasing perfection, we’re extending the life of something that already exists. We're trying to be a little extra fancy, to slow down, and savor the moment.
How do I fold a cloth napkin?
However you want. This is your “no rules” era.
Do cloth napkins make good gifts?
Yes. Send it to a friend. Leave a note. Be the person who always shows up with a hostess gift. Any event when you would send a card, what if you swapped the card for a unqiue napkin?
If I only get one a month, how will I ever have a matching set?
You won’t. And that’s the fun part. Matching is overrated. Let people choose their napkin and tell you why. It’s a conversation starter disguised as a table setting.
What if I’m not a napkin person, but I love a good scarf?
Then it’s not a napkin. It’s a scarf. Turns out, names are flexible like that. Tie your napkin around your neck and now it's a bandana. Do the same, but on your dog and see how stylish they become, perhaps even better mannered. Or tie it in your hair for a pop of color.
